ANTARCTICA SKI AND SAIL

From: 14.000€

Ski touring at the South Pole

Can you imagine skiing through its mountains? Go down its slopes to a beach surrounded by ice and penguins with skis on?

A trip for adventurers looking to discover these wonderful Antarctic landscapes, their flora and their wildlife. Whales, seals, penguins and elephant seals will be our travel companions.

There is no better way to know this continent than from a sailboat, which will be our means of transport and shelter. With a zodiac we will disembark every day on beaches from where we will begin our ski trips in search of summits that have never been skied before.

We will follow in the footsteps of former explorers like Ernest Shackleton and cross the famous Drake Passage from Chilean Patagonia to the Antarctic Peninsula. Once there we will have about two weeks to explore, discover and enjoy its mountains and bays before starting the way back.

There is the possibility of crossing the Drake by plane and only navigate the Antarctic Peninsula.

Days 3 to 6:

Crossing the Drake Passage
Crossing the Drake Passage to Antarctica.
Every sailor has dreamed of crossing Cape Horn by sailboat, we will do much more. Once Crossed Horn we will only have 440 nautical miles left, which will take us up to 60 degrees south latitude, or what is the same, Antarctica.
After the Drake we will already be expert sailors respected by all.

Days 7 to 21:

Ski in the Antarctic Peninsula.
We will explore and ski different peaks of the Antarctic Peninsula. Our mountain guide and the sailboat skipper will propose the summits and itinerary of the next day every afternoon depending on the group’s priorities and the weather.
King George, Livingstone, Nansen, Deception, Arctowski, Bluff, Rongue will be some of the islands we travel; but we don’t want to close an itinerary since the possibilities are endless and the beauty of the place is to explore and discover new peaks.
The days at this time of the year have about 22 hours of light, so the ski days will never end.

Days 22 to 26:

Drake back.
Crossing the Drake Passage back to Puerto Wiliams.
Now we are expert sailors in Antarctic waters. We can only enjoy the return journey, spot whales and search the mainland horizon again.

Days 27 and 28:

Back home
Day 27
Puerto Wiliams, we will say goodbye to the sailboat and take the flight to Punta Arenas.
Day 28
